It’s been an almost average week full of chores, Skype and FaceTime activities that I promised you I’d no longer talk about in great detail. I did however need to call the doctor on Monday morning and there’s a trip to the tea house by the animal park I want to tell you about. But first…
Let me take you back to Friday June 10th. That will interest you the most as we spent the day celebrating Mom’s birthday.
She says every year that it’s not necessary to have a celebration but… we disagree and this yea when Jessica and I were talking about what gifts we could give her, we discovered that a band would be performing a Queen tribute in the theater near to my house and I decided that would be the perfect thing to do for Mom’s birthday. This however, had been decided at the end of April, BEFORE I got sick with Covid. Also before we got sick with Covid, we had decided together with our brother that we were going to make it into a day celebration. Mom had been informed that she needed to be here that day because she and I were going somewhere and Jessica would dog sit. Our brother said he’d come around lunch time. Eat lunch, spend the afternoon and eat dinner with us before Mom and I left. Jessica and dearest brother had organised their own gifts and we were all set.
Having recovered from Covid and looking forward to the celebration, we realised it would probably be a tiring, though fun activity. Because I knew I’d need to stay awake much longer than usual so that I could go with Mom to the theater, we took safety precautions.
After lunch, the family conveniently left the house to take Mom’s dog Bailey for a walk and I quietly slipped away to my bed and took a nap.
They were gone much longer than I expected and I slept a lot longer than I thought I would. Later Jessica told me that they stopped by the tea house at the animal park and enjoyed drinks and cake.
It was a fun day and I think Mom secretly enjoyed the attention. I know for sure she enjoyed the theater show. As did I. The band was great, with a very talented female singer who did a wonderful rendition of Barcelona. They also played a lot of other well known Queen songs. From Under Pressure, to We Will Rock You. We sang, danced and clapped until we couldn’t no more. Very enjoyable. Though I may or may not have needed 2 and a half days to recover, but it was absolutely worth it. Mom is worth it.
During my battle with Covid, my GP had upped the dosage of one of my inhalors in order to help with coughing and breathing. Though I can cough seemingly violently, it’s never strong enough to remove phlegm from my lungs. So the higher dosage of inhalor plus other meds to dilute the phlegm would help. It did, though I had to lower the dose again (per the GP’s instructions) on the Wednesday before Mom’s birthday celebration.
During that weekend, I had noticed the cough getting more intense and breathing getting harder. On Monday morning I called the doc. He sounded completely confused when I explained what was happening. Though he decided to up the inhalor dosage again. This time for 6 weeks. On the condition that I would call back after a week if I didn’t improve. That would mean I’d need to see a specialist. Lucky for me, I’m noticing an improvement and my peak-flow has also gotten better.
Now there’s just the story of the tea house at the animal park left to share. The animal park was recently renovated, so the tea house is new and I haven’t yet been there to get a drink. So naturally when Jessica said that the family were there while I had been sleeping, I was jealous. Not to worry though. On Wednesday afternoon after Jessica was done working and had taken a rest, we headed there for a drink. She got a fresh mint tea and I had sparkling lemonade. Which tasted more like forrest fruits tea. There may or may not have also been a tasty (sweet) pastry envolved. Though all made from biological produce and not stuffed with unhealthy sugar. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The animal park itself was already closed to visitors. So no petting rabbits today. That’s fine though, it will give me an excuse to go again another day.
It’s been a good week. Though the weather has now exceeded 27c, so it’s too hot to sit outside and listen to an audio book. I guess i’ll find an indoor activity to do.
How was your week? Let me know in the comments below. Thanks for reading!
